Society for the Education of American Sailors

About SEAS Westchester

SEAS Westchester is a chapter of the Society for the Education of American Sailors. We are a nonprofit, all-volunteer community sailing school and club. Our mission is to introduce people to sailing and provide affordable access to sailing. SEAS has been teaching safe sailing since 1975.

We are located at Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow NY, and also at the Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining NY. We sail on the beautiful Hudson River in both of those locations.

What we offer

●     Sailing classes for beginners

●     Advanced classes for experienced sailors

●     A welcoming club for sailors of all abilities

●     Practice sailing sessions throughout the sailing season from May through October

●     An alternative to boat ownership! SEAS owns boats, so you don’t have to

●     Fun social activities

●     Opportunity to get involved as a volunteer to help with our classes, equipment upkeep, social activities, community outreach, and leadership

●     Affordable sailing vacations in the US, Caribbean, Europe, and beyond

●     Access to the best online sailing education through our partnership with NauticEd

Our fleet

We maintain a fleet of small board boats, which are sailed by one or two people. Our board boats include Sunfish, Phantoms, and a Laser.

We also have a Newport 28 yacht, which is sailed with a crew of two to six people (usually five).

Our all-volunteer team of instructors, dock-masters, and water assistants have educated more than 2,000 sailors in the greater Westchester area.
