Sail on the scenic Hudson with SEAS Westchester! We’re a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization offering group sailing and social activities. Our mission is to introduce people to sailing, and SEAS has been teaching safe sailing since 1975 — for first-timers and experienced sailors alike.

Come meet people who sail or want to learn! We have a fleet of boats in Sleepy Hollow and Ossining, sailing May through October.

One of the best things about SEAS is that you can be a sailor without owning a boat! As a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization, our fees are much less than other sailing schools and clubs.

We focus on adult sailing education, but we allow students aged 13 to 17 if accompanied by a parent.

FOR FIRST-TIME SAILORS

We offer beginner classes in the spring and summer, with sessions starting in May, June, July, and August. You can learn on a tiny Sunfish or a comfortable yacht. After passing your beginner class, you automatically become a member of SEAS and can participate in practice sails (we call them “open sails”) throughout the season.

To discuss which class is right for you, give us a call at 845-832-1920 or email us at seaswestchester@gmail.com.

FOR EXPERIENCED SAILORS

Experienced sailors can join SEAS as a member and participate in practice sails (we call them “open sails”) throughout the season.

We offer “upgrade” classes, allowing you to learn to sail boats that you may not already know how to sail. Sailors of small boats (e.g., Sunfish) can learn to sail our Newport 28 keelboat yacht. Keelboat sailors can learn to sail Sunfish.

We offer various opportunities to advance your skills, including an advanced keelboat course, an instructor training course, and cruises in places such as the Chesapeake, the Caribbean, and Europe.

To discuss opportunities for experienced sailors, give us a call at 845-832-1920 or email us at seaswestchester@gmail.com.

SEAS Westchester offers training and certification in partnership with NauticEd. You can learn sailing theory with NauticED's online courses and get your practical on-the-water training from SEAS Westchester. NauticEd International Sailing Education is recognized by the United States Coast Guard as meeting the American National Standards EDU-3.
